Quang Sơn takes local advantages to develop
Mr. Khúc Kim Quảng, Chairman of the Quang Sơn Commune People's Committee, informed: Out of the total natural area of 1,431ha of the commune, agricultural and forestry land accounts for 59%; 70% of households mainly live on agriculture. Therefore, to create favorable conditions for people to develop their economy and increase their income, in recent years, the commune has strengthened coordination with banks to help people access preferential loans for production development... Specifically, with the Bank for Social Policies, the commune currently has 337 households borrowing with a total outstanding loan of over 16 billion VND...
Besides, the commune also coordinates with functional sectors to implement training programs on agricultural and forestry production knowledge and technical transfer; encouraging people to change the structure of crop and livestock varieties appropriately and produce according to VietGAP processes.
As a result, in 2024, for the first time, the commune had 13.5/117ha of commercial tea certified to VietGAP standards. The whole commune currently has 439ha of forestry land covered with hybrid acacia and eucalyptus varieties (reaching 100%); 3 farms, 15 family farms (an increase of 7 family farms compared to 2020); 115ha of fruit trees with custard apple, longan, grapefruit, guava, and apple varieties (an increase of 15% compared to the target of the Commune Party Congress Resolution for the 2020-2025 term).
Along with agricultural production, with the advantage of National Highway 1B passing through the area, Quang Sơn commune always encourages and creates conditions for households in the three hamlets of La Giang, Đồng Thu, and Trung Sơn living along the National Highway and people in Đồng Tâm hamlet (the commune's central area) to build production, trade, and service facilities. As a result, to date, the whole commune has over 230 production and business establishments, meeting the production and consumption needs of the people.
Mr. Lưu Quang Vinh, a business household owner in Đồng Thu hamlet, shared: Recognizing that there are many trucks carrying construction materials regularly passing through the area, I opened a car repair garage. My garage has been operating stably for 20 years now, creating jobs for 1 to 4 local laborers with incomes from 6 to 8 million VND/month.
Focusing on developing industry and small-scale handicrafts is also one of the commune's key tasks in recent years. In 2021, the Provincial People's Committee decided to establish Quang Sơn 1 Industrial Cluster (Zone A) in Thống Nhất hamlet with an area of 15.3ha. Immediately after, the Quang Sơn commune authority made efforts to coordinate with the district's specialized agencies and businesses to implement compensation and site clearance. Up to now, 2 businesses are investing in building factories in the Industrial Cluster, of which 1 factory has been put into operation, creating jobs for dozens of local laborers.
Not only the Industrial Cluster, but with the mechanism of creating favorable conditions for investors following legal regulations, to date, the commune has 13 companies operating in the field of exploitation, production, and processing of construction materials, 1 transportation service enterprise, 20 small-scale handicraft production establishments (an increase of 3 companies and 6 small-scale handicraft production establishments compared to 2020); there are 9 stone quarries, 1 leveling soil quarry, and 1 cement factory.
These units have contributed to creating regular jobs for over 200 local laborers with incomes from 6 to 8 million VND/person/month.
With the synchronous implementation of solutions, the economic life of the people of Quang Sơn commune has been improved. In 2024, the commune reduced 9 poor and near-poor households (reaching 128.5% of the year's plan), the poverty rate of the commune is currently 5.2%, and the near-poor rate is 4.5%. The average income per capita in 2024 is 42 million VND/person/year (an increase of 7 million VND compared to 2020).
Talking about the tasks in the coming time, Mr. Khúc Kim Quảng added: We will continue to orient and support people in producing clean and safe agricultural products, increasing economic value; encourage the development of trade, service, and small-scale handicraft industries to create sustainable jobs and increase people's income.
