At the end of 2023, Ms. Triệu Thị Điệp, a Nùng ethnic person, in Vực Giảng hamlet, Tân Hòa commune, participated in a nearly 3-month poultry farming vocational training class organized by the Phú Bình District Agricultural Service Center. With the knowledge gained, she boldly developed hill chicken farming to increase her income.
Ms. Điệp said: “My first batch of chickens was on a scale of 1,000. Thanks to applying the techniques learned in practice, my flock of chickens has grown and developed well. After 4 months of care, the average chicken reached a weight of 2.2kg. With a selling price of 73,000 VND/kg, I made a profit of more than 15 million VND. Thanks to raising chickens, I have more income to take care of my family's life.”
Like Ms. Điệp, Mr. Vi Văn Nguyên, a Nùng ethnic person from Tân Thành commune, was also equipped with a lot of knowledge and skills in animal husbandry after participating in a vocational training class of less than 3 months at the Agricultural Service Center.
Mr. Nguyên shared: “At the end of 2023, my family was supported with one breeding cow. Before, whenever the cow got sick, I had to call a veterinarian to examine and treat it. Now, I can identify and treat some common diseases in cows. After 1 year of care, the cow has grown healthy, reaching nearly 4 quintals and is about to give birth to its first calf.”
Many people living in ethnic minority areas have been equipped with knowledge and skills in agricultural production. |

Accordingly, from 2023 to now, the District Agricultural Service Center has organized 9 vocational training classes of less than 3 months with the participation of nearly 320 students who are ethnic minority people and Kinh people from poor and relative-poor households living in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

In 2024 alone, the Center has organized 5 vocational training classes with an average of about 30 students per class.”
With appropriate solutions, many workers who are ethnic minority people or Kinh people living in ethnic minority areas have improved their knowledge and vocational skills, contributing to increasing the rate of trained workers to over 77.2% (an increase of 0.26% compared to 2022), of which the number of workers with diplomas and certificates is 32.5%. Thanks to this, people can find new jobs or create their own jobs locally to have stable incomes, improve their lives, and escape poverty. From 2021 to now, the poverty rate in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Phú Bình district has decreased by an average of 2% per year.
