The last days of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at Hospital 108
The death of our Party's top leader has made doctors, nurses, officials, and medical staff extremely sad, because General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was not only a dedicated leader with his work until the last moments of his life, but also a close, simple person who always treated everyone sincerely. Many people feel they have lost a family member.
Even though his health is gradually weakening, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. every day, the General Secretary listens to his assistants and secretaries report on their work. After 10:30 a.m. and in the afternoon, he meets Party and State leaders, sits and reads and studies documents.
Associate Professor Nguyen Phuong Dong, doctor taking care of the General Secretary's health for many years at Central Military Hospital 108, said: "On July 13, the General Secretary was still working, but in that day afternoon, we had to put in a breathing machine. In that last moment, we felt like we would lose our father, a relative, so many people cried."
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong who took care of the General Secretary for more than 4 years, said: "The General Secretary is a simple, gentle person. He has left a lot of affection and love for the service staff. ”
When he wants to rest, the General Secretary sits on the wooden tables and chairs arranged in the hallway, looks at the Red River, and chats with doctors and nurses. Sometimes he reads poetry about landscapes and life. When walking along the hospital corridor, he loved singing “Bac Son song”. The doctors and nurses on duty will practice and sing a few lines with him... The atmosphere was bustling in a corner of the corridor.
All of the above seems to still be new in the memories of every medical staff. The simple and close leader has become an example for each medical officer to continue their efforts to contribute to the cause of health care for all people.
