Cao Ngan Thermal Power Plant currently has 2 power generation units with a total designed capacity of 115MW; connected to the national grid to serve the tasks and goals of socio-economic development and ensure energy security. Determining sustainable development, in electricity production, the Company has implemented many solutions for waste treatment (including exhaust gas, wastewater, ash and slag) and applied the "factory in the park" model.

Specifically, regarding the treatment of exhaust gas and wastewater, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of Cao Ngan Thermal Power Company, said: The company has installed an electrostatic dust filter system in 2 units and an automatic exhaust gas measurement system, ensuring that 99% of the dust is retained during the operation of the units. At the same time, it signed a contract with the Center for Natural Resources and environment monitoring (Department of Natural Resources and Environment) to check and monitor parameters (NOX, SOX, CO, dust, noise, wastewater, surface water and groundwater) twice a year; install automatic exhaust gas monitoring systems connected to transmit monitoring data directly to the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring. As for wastewater, the company periodically treats it such as: Dredging in settling tanks, drainage ditches, ensuring that water flowing out of discharge gates does not exceed the allowable parameters...

Regarding ash and slag waste generated during the production process (620 tons/day, including fly ash and bottom slag), Cao Ngan Thermal Power Company has coordinated with the Institute of Construction Science and Technology (Ministry of Construction) and a number of factories in the area to organize research and successfully test the use of ash and slag as input materials and as additives in the production of construction materials and landfill materials.

Thanks to that, the Company's ash and slag is currently brought to the collection site and supplied to dozens of units in need of consumption as additives in the production of construction materials. This brings "double" benefits - increasing revenue for the unit and reducing the load on the factory's ash and slag storage.

Environmental protection in electricity production

In environmental protection, Cao Ngan Thermal Power Company also applies the model of "factory in the park" with the bright - green - neat – tidy criteria. Implementing this model, the Company has planted hundreds of trees and ornamental plants along internal roads, designed miniature landscapes and fish ponds around the factory premises... Mr. Nguyen Duy Tung, a worker in the operation workshop, said: Around the factory, there are many trees planted, helping to make the working atmosphere fresh and airy. The health of workers has also been improved.

The synchronous implementation of environmental protection solutions in thermal power production has helped the unit prevent and minimize the risk of environmental violations, while maintaining stable production and business activities. Since its inception, Cao Ngan Thermal Power Company has achieved a revenue of over VND 14,600 billion, creating jobs for more than 250 workers with an average income of VND 13 million/person/month...
